IO Interactive and Amazon MGM Studios have officially released the launch trailer for 007 First Light, a reimagined origin story for James Bond set to launch on May 27, 2026.
The upcoming stealth-action title follows a younger Bond as he enters the world of espionage after catching the attention of MI6 during a dangerous situation in Iceland. Actor Patrick Gibson portrays Bond, while the game also features performances from Priyanga Burford, Lennie James, and musician Lenny Kravitz.
Unlike previous Bond games focused primarily on action, 007 First Light places a strong emphasis on player choice and creative problem-solving. IO Interactive says players can complete objectives through stealth, direct combat, or a mix of both depending on their playstyle.
The game introduces several core gameplay systems, including:
- Spycraft mechanics focused on eavesdropping, pickpocketing, and environmental investigation
- “Bond’s Instinct,” which allows players to manipulate enemies and improve combat precision
- Gadgets from Q Branch for hacking, distractions, and stealth takedowns
- Dynamic combat that escalates depending on player decisions
IO Interactive also confirmed a replay-focused mode called Tactical Simulation, or TacSim, which unlocks additional mission challenges and modifiers designed to encourage experimentation and mastery after completing the main story.
007 First Light launches May 27 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, with a Nintendo Switch 2 version arriving later in Summer 2026. Players who pre-order the game will receive a free upgrade to the Deluxe Edition, which includes 24-hour early access and exclusive in-game cosmetics.
The game marks IO Interactive’s first major project centered around the James Bond franchise and continues the studio’s focus on stealth gameplay following the success of the HITMAN series.
