Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order Review – Slow Start but Worth It

I just wrapped up Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, and overall—it’s a solid experience… but it doesn’t exactly come out swinging.

Right from the start, the game feels slow. The opening hours can drag a bit, and I’ll be honest—it almost lost me early on. Movement and combat didn’t feel quite right at first either. There’s definitely a learning curve, and in some ways, it leans into that “souls-like” style where timing and patience matter more than button mashing.

But here’s the thing: once it clicks, it really clicks.

As you start unlocking new abilities and getting more comfortable with the controls, the gameplay opens up in a big way. Combat becomes more fluid, exploration feels rewarding, and you start to feel like an actual Jedi instead of someone just fumbling with a lightsaber.

That progression is what carries the experience.

Gameplay

Early game: sluggish and a bit frustrating
Mid to late game: smooth, engaging, and genuinely fun
Once the skill tree starts filling out, the combat improves dramatically. You gain more control, more options, and fights start feeling intentional instead of awkward.

Story

The story is good—but not groundbreaking.
It hits the emotional beats you’d expect from a Star Wars story set after Order 66, and there are definitely some strong moments. That said, parts of it feel a little generic and predictable.
Still, it does enough to keep you invested, especially if you’re a Star Wars fan.

Final Thoughts

Jedi: Fallen Order is a game that asks for a little patience—but rewards you for sticking with it.

It starts slow. The gameplay feels off at first. But once everything comes together, it turns into a really enjoyable experience with satisfying progression and solid Star Wars storytelling.

Score: 8/10

A rough beginning, but a strong finish.
