PS1-Inspired JRPG Full Circle Revealed

Fans of classic PlayStation-era JRPGs have a new adventure to keep an eye on. Solo developer 2ndPlayerGames and publisher Deck13 Spotlight officially revealed Full Circle during the Indie Quest 2026 Showcase.

Set in a post-apocalyptic future, Full Circle follows humanity after it abandons the surface of the planet and retreats to massive flying cities. While the skies have provided safety from the mutated creatures roaming below, resources are dwindling and humanity is forced to return to the surface. What begins as a routine mission quickly uncovers survivors, rival cities, and secrets that challenge everything the heroes thought they knew.

The game draws inspiration from some of the most beloved JRPGs of the PlayStation 1 era, including Lunar, Breath of Fire, Final Fantasy, and The Legend of Dragoon. According to developer 2ndPlayerGames, the goal is to capture the magic of those classic adventures while modernizing the experience with updated visuals, smoother gameplay, and new mechanics that weren’t possible during the original era.

One of the game’s standout features is its “constant flow combat” system. Battles combine traditional turn-based strategy with real-time inputs, allowing players to chain attacks, execute combos, and swap party members without interrupting the action.

Players will also be able to recruit a diverse cast of characters, each offering unique combat abilities and exploration skills. The world features floating cities, ancient ruins, survivor settlements, and dangerous wilderness areas filled with secrets to uncover. Additional features include creature taming, hidden quests, equipment customization, and a party-building system that allows players to mix and match active and reserve members.

Visually, Full Circle embraces a modern 2.5HD pixel-art style that blends nostalgic character sprites with detailed environments and modern lighting effects.

Full Circle is currently in development for PC and consoles. Players attending Gamescom later this year will have their first opportunity to go hands-on with the game through a playable demo.

For fans longing for the return of classic JRPG storytelling and exploration, Full Circle may be worth adding to their wishlist.
