Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 Officially Revealed

Activision and Infinity Ward have officially unveiled Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, the next entry in the long-running franchise, with a worldwide launch set for October 23, 2026.

Developed by Infinity Ward, Modern Warfare 4 centers on a rapidly escalating conflict on the Korean Peninsula. Players will take on the role of Private Park, a young South Korean soldier caught in a full-scale North Korean invasion. Meanwhile, fan-favorite Captain Price returns in a new role, operating outside official channels as he pursues a dangerous weapon capable of triggering a global catastrophe.

The campaign will take players across multiple locations around the world, including New York, Paris, Mumbai, and Korea. Infinity Ward promises a mix of close-quarters firefights, vehicle chases, special operations missions, and large-scale battlefield combat.

Multiplayer Introduces Ballistic Authority

Modern Warfare 4’s multiplayer experience aims to deliver more grounded and precise combat while expanding player movement options.

A major addition is a new system called Ballistic Authority, which Infinity Ward describes as a weapons-focused innovation designed to deliver the most authentic gunplay in the Modern Warfare series to date.

At launch, players can expect:

  • 12 Core Multiplayer maps
  • Locations inspired by destinations around the world
  • A brand-new map called Kill Block
  • Dynamic map layouts featuring more than 500 possible configurations between rounds

DMZ Returns

The popular extraction-based mode DMZ is making its return in Modern Warfare 4.

Infinity Ward says the mode will continue to focus on high-risk deployments for solo players and squads, with shifting objectives and evolving combat scenarios intended to make every deployment feel different. Additional information about DMZ is expected to be revealed on June 7.

Enhanced Focus on PC and Nintendo Switch 2

Infinity Ward and Beenox are also emphasizing improvements for PC players, with expanded options for performance tuning, responsiveness, visual fidelity, and customization.

For the first time in franchise history, a Modern Warfare title will also launch on Nintendo Switch 2, alongside PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
