Launches July 9, 2026 on PC, Mac, and Modern Consoles
The backyard is officially back.
Playground Productions and indie publisher/developer Mega Cat Studios have announced a brand-new installment in the Backyard Baseball franchise during IGN Fan Fest. The game launches July 9, 2026, marking the first new console release in the beloved series in 15 years.
A New Era for a Classic Franchise
The upcoming Backyard Baseball brings the full backyard gang — including fan-favorite legend Pablo Sanchez — into the third dimension for the first time. While the game moves into 3D, it will incorporate 2D elements to preserve the nostalgic charm that defined the original titles.
Originally released in 1997, Backyard Baseball became a defining sports game for young audiences thanks to its humor, accessibility, and memorable characters. This new installment is a completely original entry, designed to celebrate that legacy while modernizing gameplay for today’s platforms.
Updated Gameplay & Expanded Modes
Beyond its visual overhaul, the new title promises:
