EVE Online Expansion Launches June 9 With New Ships, Military Campaigns and Rookie-Friendly Systems

Fenris Creations has officially revealed Cradle of War, the next major expansion for EVE Online, set to launch on June 9, 2026. The update introduces large-scale military campaigns, eight new ships, expanded progression systems and a new non-PvP starter region aimed at helping new players ease into the long-running MMO.

Set during rising instability across high-security space, Cradle of War begins the first chapter of Theatres of War, a planned three-expansion storyline focused on evolving large-scale player conflict throughout New Eden. According to Creative Director Bergur Finnbogason, the expansion is designed to make player-driven warfare feel more impactful while still allowing the community to shape the outcome of conflicts.

One of the biggest additions is the new Military Campaign system, which introduces structured objectives and progression to empire warfare. Players across multiple playstyles — including combat pilots, industrialists, explorers, logistics crews and coordinators — can contribute to large-scale battles and territorial campaigns across several fronts.

The expansion also adds eight new ships, including Navy Destroyers designed for faction warfare and new Tech II Command Carriers that focus on fleet support and battlefield control. These ships are intended to give players more options ranging from early combat encounters to endgame fleet coordination.

For newer players, Cradle of War introduces a new non-PvP starter space where rookie capsuleers can learn core systems without immediately being thrown into dangerous player-versus-player combat. The system is designed to gradually introduce players to EVE’s mechanics before they move into larger wars and open-space conflict.

Another major feature is the addition of Titles and Achievements, a new progression layer that tracks player accomplishments throughout New Eden. Players can unlock visible Titles tied to their reputation, playstyle and contributions during campaigns, allowing veterans and newcomers alike to showcase their identity across the game’s social systems.

The expansion will also feature new Epic Arc missions that recreate major moments from EVE’s history. These missions allow players to experience famous battles connected to each of the game’s four empires, including the Battle of Pator and the Liberation of Intaki.

EVE Online: Cradle of War launches June 9 for PC and Mac. Fenris Creations says additional details about the Theatres of War saga will be revealed after launch.
